Before the installtion of solar road markers onto a designated section of road. We observe the area several times before at different times of the evening, taking note of speed, volume of traffic, frequency of P platers,how many vehicles crossed the centre line and other factors.
After the installation, approx one - two weeks, once local traffic has got used to the new device on their common road (the first few times a motorists would see the device, the level of curiosity might cause them to slow down) we continue with the same observations. Again, we make sure motorists can not see us on the road as this would cause a distraction and change driver behavior and would not allow for a 'true' or 'accurate' observation.
